Leadership in Key Club

Key Club is the oldest and largest student-led community service organization for high school students. As the Fundraising Coordinator and later the Vice President, I had the opportunity to lead several initiatives such as food drives for organizations like CAMBA and fundraising money through creative efforts. Through these initiatives and collaboratively working with my executive board, we raise over $3,500 for non-profit organizations and fostered community engagement.

Publication & Editing for The Magnet

Edited for my school's literary magazine (The Magnet) under the guidance of my teacher, Mr. Joseph Elliot. As a member, I contributed original creative written work to the magazine and served on the submission board, reviewing and selecting pieces for publications. In my senior year, I worked with Ms. Isabelle Duperval to become the magazine's first dedicated editors. Together, we copy-edited all accepted submissions, and finalized the 150+ page issue by the printing deadline. For my contributions, I was honored with the Excellence in Writing for Publication award.

Mural Work at Groundswell

As an Youth Artist at Groundswell, I collaborated with my peers and professional artists to design and paint El Paso del Tiempo, a large-scale mural in Bushwick that celebrates the cultural resilience of Bushwick. This project explores themes of gentrification, identity and community through Afrofuturist aesthetics and the Sankofa principle—to honor the past to build a better future. Through this experience, I learned the importance of collaboration, communication, and creativity in the arts and how public art can be used to inspire and uplift communities.
